Hello HARPG Community!
I'm looking for some people interested in participating in reviving a text based equine game that's on it's deathbed. A large part of my income within the game in it's prime was art, so I'm hoping to pique some interest here.
The game in question is called Virtual Horse Ranch. Maybe you've heard of it, or even dabbled in it in the past but have since lost interest. It really needs a fresh community and economy. Why the HARPG community?
Besides the affinity for horses, the game is essentially a text based role playing simulation. Players make a ranch name and player name (things that cannot be changed), you start out with 100k playcash, and the marketplace is yours to peruse. Your ranch page can be edited with art and html/css. Each horse can have a personal picture. You can play it much like you would RP your HARPG ranches, except the horses will have set stats that can be improved through training and breeding lines. The game does not include realistic color breeding, but you can "dye" your horses colors ranging from normal, to purchasing a personal customized color.
You can specialize in a breed (some fantasy breeds available, or make up your own!), choose to work with pure or grade lines, train for one discipline or many, or just dabble around with a mix of everything.
If you decide to check out the game (please do, even if you don't think you'll play it for long), I highly suggest signing up with OrbisWorlds, connecting your VHR account, and diving into the forums. You will get a feel for how to play the game through the forum's player guides, on top of learning the community. Additionally, a sponsor account will allow you to have infinite turns, skill perks that will allow you to train and breed better horses, the ability to create events, and have more horses on your ranch. (if upgrading, use OrbisWorlds and the token system)
And, if you have any questions you can private message me on the forums (in-game messaging system sucks) @ MaidenFaire
So I don't ramble, I'll make this journal in "point" form:
- I'm 25 and it doesn't feel like I'm an adult. Halp.
- I finished a live-in internship in December where I helped feed and maintain (vet/farrier/training) 30 weanlings (which went down as people purchased them during my stay), 20 yearlings (the number dropped down to 13 during my stay, 6 of which I trained to be started under saddle), about 30 broodmares,a stallion, and a few miscellaneous donkeys, ponies, and riding horses. It was an experience...
- I basically finished my schooling for now, although I may take on internships and apprenticeships with people in the equine industry.
- I still plan to go to training and informational clinics for different disciplines, I will be forever learning to improve my riding, training, and business/management skills
- AARRTT??? I find myself doodling, but not really finishing anything. As one of my resolutions, I will be doing short drawing studies with pen/pencil. I have a few things I haven't uploaded here, but may.
- I hope everyone has a great 2016!
